The Black MacBook
I bought a black MacBook today for the kids to use (they are forever banned from using Kristy's laptop). It is a beautiful looking machine and the blackness of it makes it a perfect fit for the kitchen desk (which is a nice public place for a kids computer). The kitchen cabinets are all black... the kitchen trim is all black, and now we have a snazzy hip new black Apple MacBook to sit on the desk. Right?

Um, well... one problem. After opening up the box, I discovered that the black MacBook peripherals (power cord and remote) are not black but instead are as white as snow. At first I was thinking "this is just a packaging mistake" so I called up Apple and asked for a black power cord. Uh, nope... "We don't make a black power cord." I'm thinking... "You have got to be kidding me." A company known as much for it's hipster design appeal as it is for its computers can't manufacture a laptop with matching peripherals? The iPod Nano comes in six colors; the new Shuffle comes in five colors; but a black MacBook is shipped with a white power cord. I was just about to take the whole damn thing back (all $1500 of it), because of the design oversight... but I didn't. After 10 minutes of owning an Apple for the first time, I'm already seriously annoyed. Not a good start.

*sigh*
