Park City Vacation: Day Six
I began the day just as I did yesterday, at the pool with Eliana. She
really loves the water. Berkeley and Kristy joined us not long after.
We made the most of our last day to use what has basically been our own
private pool (the hotel has been deserted for much of the week).
After swimming, Eliana was exhausted and fell asleep wrapped up in
towels on our bed (still in her swimming suit). So while Kristy stayed
with Eliana and did some packing, Berkeley and I bought a couple of
tickets for the gondola (which Berkeley
kept pronouncing "gongola") and rode it up the mountain. I snapped some
cute pictures of the ride, but I'll probably not have the opportunity
to post them until after we return home.
It was quite cold at the top of the gondola ride, so Berkeley and I
took a seat at a table on the lodge patio and ordered a couple of mugs
of hot cocoa. We sat there for a while and just talked, I can't
remember what about, but it was nice just sitting there in the sun.
After we had finished, we went on a "hike" up the mountain. Well,
we walked about 500 feet up the slope and looked at some flowers and
some rocks, then we walked back down to the "gongola" and returned back
to the hotel.
Eliana was awake by the time we returned. After a quick lunch, we
drove over to the Park City Ski Resort and bought some tickets for the
Alpine Slide. Thankfully, even though it was a Saturday, there were no
crowds to speak of and we pretty much walked up to the lift. Both
Eliana and Berkeley loved the slide. Eliana sat in my lap and Berkeley
rode down with Kristy. They both had such a good time that we bought a
second set of tickets and went down again.
After our second ride, we returned to the hotel and met up with my Mom
and Dad who were kind enough to drive up to have dinner with us. The
kids love their grandparents; it is a hoot to watch them get all giddy
when they see them. They somehow sense that there is something special
about these two people.
We had dinner at our hotel room and then, by Berkeley's request, went to
the "train restaurant" again (the Diary Keen in Heber City) for some ice
cream. After that, we said our goodbyes to the grandparents and called
it a day.
